The Uganda International Writers Conference, 4th Edition/ Creative Writers Master Class organized by the British Council East Africa Arts and The African Writers Trust, 15 – 17 May, 2019 is so far the best event in relation to my creative writing craft that I have attended.
Despite her being my ex, she knew how much writing meant to me so one day I received a text from her with the flyer and I applied for the slot (God bless her heart). A few days later, seated at my work desk, I received the conformation email and I went hysterical. To make it more insane, it was falling in my days of leave. The heavens were smiling down on me.
The very first day, I was the first guy to arrive at the venue. Even before the organizers could and throughout the whole 3 day conference of limitless eating and socializing, I amassed a great wealth of knowledge on how to sharpen my creative writing skills from a great team of hosts and renowned authors, writers, poets, dramatists the likes of Kagayi Ngobi, award winning writers like Jackie Kay and Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, Patrick Karekezi amongst others. Each day presented me with an opportunity to meet all the above mentioned people that tutored on how to create selling, inspiring and expressive content.
Ever since that conference happened, my creative writing took a turn to the highest. Very much appreciated.
